Unlocking the Potential of Bright Minds and Souls
Experience Joy For Learning
Socrates Roundtable is a private K-12 school dedicated to self-determined, transformative learning and emotional & intellectual growth.
Founded in 2025, Socrates Roundtable ignites children's curiosity and respects the difference. It dismisses rigidly structured curricula & assessments and provides a holistic education that empowers students to become life-long learners and servant leaders.
Included in Socrates Roundtable's teaching and learning philosophy are ad hoc workshops, cross-disciplinary and independent long and short term projects, and roundtable dialogues that welcome experiences, authenticity, imagination, perseverance, openness to challenges, critical and creative thinking, diverse schools of thought, academic level research and the utilization of multiple, reliable & competing sources of information.
Of importance is an explanation of our school's concept and name, Socrates Roundtable. Socrates is credited to be the founder of Western Philosophy. He was a Greek philosopher from Athens who perplexed his listeners with his brilliant mind. One of his trademarks (that is so loved by our school's founder) was the question-answer method of in-depth subject matter examination - today, we call this highly logical method the Socratic Dialogue. The concept of roundtable implies a horizontally structured organization fostering status absence and intellectual impartiality.
Socrates Roundtable is a nonhierarchical, intellectually rigorous and impartial space in which learners, scholars, field practitioners and mentors meet to brainstorm ideas and craft solutions to local, community and world problems via the Socratic dialogue.
While it does not specialize in special education, Socrates Roundtable warmly welcomes neurodivergent learners who are more or less on the high functioning side of the spectrum - it values learners with mild learning, sensory, social or emotional sensibilities.
At Socrates Roundtable, competition has its place: it rests exclusively in the sphere of sports and is discouraged in academia and on the playground.
